Herstory | About Our Founder
Airickca Gordon-Taylor was a cousin and surrogate daughter to the late Mamie Till Mobley, mother of Emmett Louis Till, whose tragic murder in 1955 near Money, Mississippi, sparked the Civil Rights Movement. Airickca spent much of her childhood in the home of Mamie. After the passing of Mamie Till Mobley in 2003, Airickca, alumni of the touring troupe of young orators, revived The Emmett Till Players. By 2009 to maintain an unyielding commitment to honor Mamie Till Mobley’s legacy and preserve her son’s memory, Airickca established the Mamie Till Mobley Memorial Foundation.
